LACAF is a professional
and successful African Caribbean member
organisation, set up to
- Champion the rebirth of African Caribbean
arts in Leicester, today and in the future
- Promote cultural diversity in the arts
- Provide information support to its
members
- Provide a platform for professional
artists to perform
- Initiate training, seminars and performance
platforms
- Work alongside major arts providers
at regional, national and international
levels
LACAF works with musicians,
bands, singers, dancers, visual artists,
young people, community groups, professional
artists and performers.
The aims and objectives
of LACAF are:
To
foster, encourage and promote an understanding
and appreciation of the arts within Black
Communities.
To
increase the accessibility of the arts
of Black people to the population of
Leicester and other areas.
To
make presentation on behalf of its members
to all statutory and other bodies in
regards to the express needs of the organization.
To
provide a forum for local artists and
performers in Leicester.
To
act as co-coordinating body for all activities
for all people, individuals and groups
under affiliation of LACAF.
To
provide means of liaison between other
organizations and groups with similar
aims and objectives in the region.
To
do all such things that are incidental
or conductive to the attainment of these
